Edgar’s Mission is seeking to appoint two new directors to the board. The Edgar’s Mission board is dedicated to upholding the values, mission and purpose of the organisation and support the work to create a kinder world for farmed animals.
Edgar’s Mission is a not-for-profit sanctuary for farmed animals that seeks to create a humane and just world for humans and non-humans. It commenced in 2003 with a girl, Pam Ahern, a pig, the eponymous Edgar Alan Pig, and dream, a kinder world for all, and has grown to become one of the world’s premier and most-loved sanctuaries.
Set on 153 peaceable acres situated just outside of Lancefield, the sanctuary is nestled in the tranquillity of the Macedon Ranges.
Edgar’s Mission rescues, rehabilitates, rehomes or provides life-long sanctuary to farmed animals in need. At any one time, we provide a safe haven to between 350 and 450 animals. Through education, outreach, advocacy, community engagement and sanctuary tours, we encourage people to expand their circle of compassion to include all animals.
Edgar’s Mission is seeking a Board Director who will champion the purpose, vision, values, and strategic priorities of the organisation. As part of fulfilling the strategic objectives of the organisation, we are particularly seeking people with a passion and commitment to creating a kinder world for all animals. We are seeking directors who can play a critical role in organisational governance and shaping the future of the organisation.
As a board member, you will bring your skills to help guide the organisation to maximise its vision of kindness, grow new revenue opportunities, develop new programs, plan long-term facilities, elevate the reputation of the sanctuary, manage risk and establish long-term financial sustainability.
Edgar’s Mission recognises the importance of having a Board with the skills, knowledge, experience, capabilities and diversity to ensure effective governance of the organisation.
The board is seeking interest from people who can contribute skills and expertise as follows:
A National Police Certificate and Working with Children Check are mandatory for all Board members.
Directors of Edgar’s Mission serve as volunteers and do not receive any remuneration.
In your application, please outline the capabilities you bring, how you live and breathe Edgar’s Mission values of kindness and why you wish to commit to being an Edgar’s Mission’s board member.
