The Aged Care Trainee – Care Assistant - Palliative Care will provide direct care in a dignified and respectful manner to Eldercare’s residents under supervision. We are seeking attentive individuals who enjoy interacting, working with, and assisting people. You will be committed to delivering person-centred care.

Throughout traineeship you will be supported and provided with ongoing mentorship to gain the necessary knowledge and skills required to be a well-equipped Care Assistant, a position in high demand across the aged care industry. As well as on-the-job placement, you will be paid to attend a training provider to complete your formal Certificate III qualification.

This is a unique opportunity to be involved in the Comprehensive Palliative Care in Aged Care Project (Hospice Residential Aged Care Facility) funded through the Department of Health and Wellbeing SA and the Commonwealth Government. Palliative care is a holistic approach to support persons living with end-of-life illnesses. This project seeks to upskill the aged care workforce in the provision of palliative care.

To be considered for one of our traineeships you will possess:

  • The ability to commit to the full length of the 12-month traineeship and participate in all education and placement requirements. This includes completion of the Certificate III Individual Support (Aged Care)
  • Willingness to learn and participate as a member of the care team within Eldercare’s model of care
  • A kind and compassionate demeanour
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • The ability to communicate with people of various ages, cultures and backgrounds
  • Computer literacy
