OUR CLIENT

Our client, a prominent Native Title Representative Body, is seeking a dedicated Senior Legal Officer-Coordinator to join the team. You will play a crucial role in providing legal expertise and strategic coordination within our Future Acts, Mining and Exploration Unit. Our client is committed to upholding Aboriginal rights and ensuring effective representation under the Native Title Act 1993.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert legal advice and representation to native title parties regarding future act activities, ensuring informed decision-making.
• Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements, including ILUAs and Cultural Heritage Management Plans.
• Coordinate the activities of the Unit to ensure efficient service delivery and client satisfaction.
• Maintain awareness of relevant Commonwealth and Queensland legislation impacting our work.
• Prepare detailed reports and contribute to team meetings and strategic planning initiatives.

Selection Criteria:

• Demonstrated understanding and respect for Aboriginal cultures and issues affecting Aboriginal communities.
• Minimum 5 years' post-admission experience with a Practicing Certificate in Queensland (or be eligible for one).
• Strong legal background in corporate, commercial, renewable energy, or environmental law preferred.
• Ability to manage legal tasks independently, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven negotiation and coordination abilities, with a track record of delivering results within deadlines.
• Willingness to travel as required and hold a manual Queensland Drivers Licence.
