An exciting opportunity exists for a Social Worker to join the Pintupi Homeland Health Service team in Kintore, NT on a 12-month contract likely to extend.
Reporting to the Health Services Manager, you will work as part of the PHHS team, supporting individuals and groups to achieve change that keeps every member of the community safe.
You will deliver a client focussed, accountable and collaborative casework that respects indigenous culture and context of each client, family and community and is based on timely sharing of accurate information to ensure that the support meets their identified needs of the client.

To be successful, you will hold a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Welfare, or a related discipline. Experience in the field of social work, child development, and/or child protection matters within family and community environments and an understanding of disadvantaged groups will also help you succeed in this role.
You'll have a solid understanding of cultural safety and a commitment to the principles of Aboriginal community-controlled health services. Any experience working in remote areas or with Aboriginal communities will be highly regarded.
Respect for diverse indigenous cultures and a willingness to learn and adapt will also be essential in this role. You will engage actively as part of the community, building genuine relationships and fostering trust. As such, an outgoing and personable disposition will also be essential.
Importantly, you'll be a collaborative team player with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to adapt your communication style to work effectively with people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds.
Please Note: A current Manual Driver's Licence, OCHRE Card and a criminal history check will be required prior to commencing in this role.

You will be rewarded with a competitive salary package circa $105,000 - $112,000 plus super and a range of additional benefits:
Pintupi Homelands Health Service is an expanding and well equipped AGPAL accredited primary healthcare facility located in Kintore. Servicing a close-knit community of 450, the health service provides clinical services with a dedicated staff of nurses, health promotion officers, Aboriginal Health Workers, a doctor and support staff.
Emphasis is being placed on preventive health and community involvement in a commitment "to close the gap" and improve the health and well-being of the Kintore community.
Kintore is located in the Northern Territory, some 530 kilometres west of Alice Springs. This remote part of Outback Australia is truly beautiful and is a popular tourist destination for 4WD and trekking enthusiasts. Kintore has a school (Walungurru School), college (high school and adult), child care centre, church, store, airstrip, health clinic, police station and a swimming pool.
Kintore is also a major centre for the Western Desert art movement which began at the community of Papunya. The Pintupi people traditionally pass on significant Dreamtime stories by way of art using sand, rock and local plants and today, canvas paintings from the Kintore region have gained international acclaim.
