About the Role
As a Behaviour Support Practitioner (BSP), the number one goal is to improve the quality of life of all of our NDIS participants. Through positive behaviour strategies and collaboration, we support participants to gain control, independence and to make positive lifestyle changes.
If you have qualifications and experience in Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Applied Behaviour Analysis, Counselling or Social Work, and experience with evidence-based approaches, then this is your opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people living with a disability.
Key duties will include:
- Building close relationships with participants, their families and service providers by creating a supportive and safe environment
- Providing professional information and advice to people with disability, families, staff and managers regarding evidence-based approaches to reduce the impact of challenging behaviour
- Ensuring the support that we deliver aligns with the NDIS participants’ NDIS Plan
- Developing and implementing intervention strategies in consultation with individuals and families
- Ensuring support plans, notes and documents are recorded in line with the NDIS framework and with a high level of care and accuracy
What you will bring to the role
- Completed or in the process of completing a degree qualification (or higher) in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or similar - a must
- A high level knowledge and experience of contemporary practices and trends in relation to service provision for people with intellectual and/or cognitive disabilities
- An in depth understanding of good clinical practice, the jurisdictional requirements in QLD and the context in which Behaviour Support is provided
- Knowledge of or experience with restrictive practices
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing positive behaviour support plans for clients that align to their NDIS plans
- Strong IT, verbal and written communication skills; this is a vital component of being a BSP
Additional requirements:
- Right to Work in Australia i.e., Australian/NZ Citizen, Permanent Resident or Visa with permission to work - excludes visas with Temporary Work Rights
- A current Blue Card and NDIS Worker's Screening Check, or the willingness to gain these clearances if successful
- A current and valid Driver’s Licence
- Willingness to undertake a "Fit2Work" Police Check
