Communications Campaigner

Environmental Justice Australia

ABOUT US

EJA is a leading national public interest legal organisation. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the communities we serve. We run game-changing court cases, high-stakes legal interventions and bold advocacy campaigns for a safe climate, thriving nature, justice and a radically better world.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This full-time role sits in EJA’s multidisciplinary Engagement Team and collaborates with lawyers and policy experts across EJA’s program areas (climate, ecosystems, justice). You’ll be responsible for creating dynamic digital advocacy and engagement content – telling powerful stories to activate target audiences, deepen engagement and support impacted communities to meaningfully participate in legal and democratic processes.

ABOUT YOU

This role will suit a talented communications campaigner with strong digital skills and a flair for creating thumb-stopping content. You’re an excellent writer who can translate complex issues into compelling and action-worthy moments.

You love cooking up impactful tactics and turning your ideas into polished multi-platform digital campaigns. You’re curious to try new things and delve into analytics to test and learn, but can also work with tight timelines.

You’re a creative problem solver, in your element working in a fast-moving environment with several different balls in the air.

You may have honed your skills as a campaigner, digital mobiliser, community organiser, communications coordinator or content strategist in an environmental or social justice campaign organisation, union or NGO. But even if you have a different kind of experience and don’t meet all the selection criteria, if you feel like you’d be a strong candidate, we’d love to hear from you.

Environmental Justice Australia is an equal opportunity employer. We recognise structural barriers like racism, ableism, classism, homophobia and sexism impact opportunities to gain paid experience, so we also value your broader skills and knowledge. We especially encourage First Nations, people of colour, LGBTQI+ people, neurodivergent folks, people with kids and those living with disabilities to apply.

BENEFITS OF WORKING WITH EJA

You will be an important part of a lean but high-impact organisation. We are proud to offer our staff a supportive workplace with excellent conditions, including:
