Environs Kimberley

Environs Kimberley (EK) is the peak environmental NGO for the Kimberley region in the north of Western Australia. Founded in Broome in 1996, we work with the community to protect the Kimberley environment through advocacy, on-ground cultural and natural resource management projects and sustainable communities’ projects.

We collaborate with Traditional Owners, ranger groups, conservationists, scientists, landholders, land managers and others to protect and better manage Kimberley lands and waters.

Our vision is that the natural environment of the Kimberley is protected and well managed. Environmental and social sustainability are guiding principles for development.

Our goals are that Kimberley lands and waters are protected and sustainably managed; that we are providing for alternative economic development through a conservation economy; we have strong collaborations at regional, national, and international levels; and that we maintain a sustainable organisation.

We value informed decision-making, community-based conservation, best-practice scientific research, the power of people to effect change, recognition of the rights and interests of Traditional Owners, Indigenous ecological knowledge, collaborations and partnerships, and our organisational independence and integrity.

Environs Kimberley embraces flexible, family-friendly workplace arrangements that allow our staff to have a healthy work-life balance. The Environs Kimberley community is welcoming and supportive, and we value our happy and inclusive workplace culture.
