BACKGROUND

Equal Playing Field (EPF) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the primary prevention of gender-based violence (GBV) through educational programs in schools that emphasise respectful relationships between girls and boys. EPF engages youth through sports and culturally relevant methods to foster safe, healthy, and non-violent modes of self-expression. Operating mainly in Port Moresby and other regions in Papua New Guinea, EPF collaborates with local communities and leverages traditional cultural practices to enhance community cohesion and empower both genders.

The consultancy will last 40 days. Ideally, 50% of those days will be spent in the first three months of employment, with ongoing support for up to two years. At least one trip to POM will be required, with travel costs covered.

OBJECTIVES

The primary objective of the School and Community Violence Prevention Specialist is to further develop EPF’s SAFE Schools Framework for the response and prevention of GBV and child abuse.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Review current model of EPF's 'Safe Schools Framework'

  • SWOT analysis
  • Is the current model in line with best practice in developing settings?

Redesign Safe Schools Framework

  • Conceptualise clear pathways for schools to achieve minimum standards
  • Develop a guide for partner schools to follow
  • Develop materials for each phase/activity

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Work with MERL Advisor to develop a MEL Framework.

Training and Capacity Building

  • Train EPF staff to support schools in achieving Safe Schools Framework minimum standards
