The Organisation

Education Equity Alliance is a not-for-profit led by educators with the mission of activating students and teachers as partners in system change for education equity. The Alliance works to facilitate this change at both the school and system-level. At the school level, it supports a network of schools to work with students and teachers to identify and pursue school improvement priorities for equity. At the system level, the Alliance facilitates a collective impact model working with community partners to strengthen collaboration to address the systemic barriers to education equity.

The Role

The Policy & Collective Impact Lead will perform a range of roles supporting the Alliance's collective impact work. Responsibilities will be varied depending on the stage of the collective impact work. These responsibilities will encompass:

  • Consultation - lead and/or participate in consultations with stakeholders from across the education system (ie students, teachers, system stakeholders). This includes working with expert consultants on the design and delivery of consultation.
  • Policy development - synthesise key findings from the Alliance's activities to develop reports and supporting documentation to inform advocacy and collective impact activities.
  • Partnership brokering - lead on establishing and maintaining relationships with key system stakeholders (this will be shared with the CEO).
  • Collective impact - lead and/or participate in collective impact activities with key partners (e.g. facilitation of working groups, secretariat for governance group) (this will be shared with the CEO, as well as expert consultants)
  • Advocacy - lead on the Alliance's public advocacy activities (including government submissions)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential requirements:

  • Working with Children’s Check issued by a relevant jurisdiction.

Knowledge & experience:

  • Knowledge of the education system - and a passion for improving education equity.
  • Experience in school-aged education and/or policy.
  • Experience in consultation and working in partnership with those with lived experience.
  • Experience with facilitating/supporting diverse stakeholders to work towards a collective goal/outcome.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for establishing positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders (ie students, teachers, system stakeholders).
  • Excellent written skills for internal and external communications and policy and advocacy reporting development.
  • Capacity to work autonomously, while also contributing to a dynamic leadership team.
