Pambula Beach Flexible School is a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition. There are 22 Flexible Schools throughout Australia who offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Enrolled young people may express a broad range of complex education and social needs and flexible schools respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices including vocational planning and the development of social connectedness.
The purpose of a Flexible School is to provide young people with a varied and holistic set of learning experiences supporting them to identify and pursue an individual transition to adulthood, employment, further education and training and social connectedness.
Due to the success of our school we have a variety of new roles. In 2024, our enrolment increased by 57%. A powerful affirmation from the community that our school works. In order to support greater numbers of young people, we need more terrific humans to join our team in 2025 and beyond.
We are looking for youth workers to join our team. These full-time positions work collaboratively with the Head of Campus, teachers and school staff.
Our school specialises in outdoor education. We teach young people how to bush cook, surf, snorkel, toboggan, mountain bike, canoe and more! We do this for one full day each week. If regular work isn’t lighting you up like it used to, it is time for a change. This will challenge, excite, and ignite your desire to take young people on lofty leaps in their academic and personal development.
This job builds great long term community connection. If you like stronger relationships with students and families than your regular gig, start typing your cover letter.
The role of the Youth Worker within our school is to support, design and develop engagement, wellbeing and social inclusion responses and program activities for the school that directly enhance the engagement of the young people that attend the school. All program activities complement the educational programs on offer and support the engagement of young peoples learning at the school. Some of these programs include outdoor adventure-based learning, sports and self reflection workshops.
