Regular Giving Donor Retention Officer

Environment Victoria

Who is Environment Victoria?

Environment Victoria is building a movement of people across Victoria to create a just society living in harmony with a healthy environment. We are one of Australia’s leading not-for-profit environment groups, with a history of running strategic, people-powered, campaigns that win just solutions to the biggest environmental problems of the day.

Our team of around 25 staff is nimble, creative and fun. We strive for justice, equity, diversity and inclusion in our work and are committed to building, and supporting, a team of staff and volunteers that mirrors the rich diversity of the Victorian community in which we work.

About You

With roughly 3-5 years’ experience working in the fundraising sector, you will be looking to develop your understanding in some of the most important practices of a successful fundraising program, regular giving and donor retention.

With solid knowledge of individual giving programs, you already understand the importance of regular giving and the reliable income it can generate for an organisation.

You will have previous experience in delivering donor communications in the individual giving space, and you have seen previously how smart and timely communications can improve relationships with donors and retain their giving over time.

You should be self-motivated and thrive in a collaborative environment. Working within a high performing team you will be expected to support your colleagues at busy points of the year and think about the broader impacts of your work across the fundraising program.

Your passion for the environment will drive you to be successful in this role and you are confident in how you speak about the work that takes place in this sector and why.

About the Role

Retention is a hot topic in the fundraising sector, but rarely do you see opportunities for roles that specifically specialise in developing and implementing donor retention plans.

This exciting new role focuses on improving donor retention in our growing regular giving program.

Over the past ten years, Environment Victoria has invested in face-to-face donor acquisition with an aim to diversify our income and grow our supporter base. As a result, regular giving has quickly become the lifeblood of our organisation, contributing over 35% of our annual income.

A recent update to Environment Victoria’s fundraising strategy has identified that we need to improve the donor retention rates within our regular giving program to keep up with industry benchmarks and therefore improve our income.

In this role you will be working to improve the regular giver experience with Environment Victoria. That includes everything from the very first welcome, managed by our face-to-face agency, through to automated journeys and specific communications throughout the year for both new and existing donors.

In this role you will also have the opportunity to work with highly skilled writers, communicators and relationship managers within a busy, but fun-filled and values aligned fundraising team. Supported by a detailed annual plan of activity and a passionate staff group of campaigners, organisers and communicators, you will be inspired and enabled to succeed.

Our professional fundraising program has lots of scope for growth and development. This role gives the right candidate an opportunity to develop brand new retention activities; tweak, test, and learn from everything that is developed; and put their own personality and professional mark on the program.
