Role Purpose

This role focuses on the delivery of an integrated education and learning program to EWB’s university partners and future engineers. This role leads the delivery of the EWB Challenge to 1st year Engineering students, will support the delivery of other EWB learning programs and work to maximise synergies and coherence across the program. This role will deliver a student learning pathway and cultivate student cohorts for EWB immersive learning experiences, short courses and Chapter involvement, and will work closely with the Learning Experience Designer and Learning Program team to do so.

Summary

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join EWB Australia’s Education and Learning Program Team and shape its future direction as the organisation pursues its Beyond 2020 strategy. This role will be the focal point of our engagement with universities around Australia and will work across, and collaborate with, all areas of EWB Australia. Critically this role will be responsible for the delivery of a suite of leading-edge learning programs that are essential to achieve our theory of change.

EWB has been working with university and community partners to deliver unique, impactful student learning experiences for over a decade. Participants in EWB education programs develop understanding of the social, cultural, global, and environmental responsibilities of professional engineers along with an appreciation of the skills required to act on this responsibility.

By equipping members of the technical-engineering sector with this understanding and awareness, the programs aim to create a fundamental shift in the capacity of the engineering sector to support positive social, environmental, and economic outcomes with communities.

EWB’s curriculum-integrated education series currently includes the EWB Challenge, Research Challenge and Design summits. These programs present unique opportunities for students to explore and develop broad professional engineering skills through engaging with authentic, real-world project briefs with the potential to lead to positive community impact.

Through access to these online resources alongside training and stakeholder engagement opportunities, academics are empowered to shape future engineers who will be sustainability-driven and community-focused in their future professional lives.

EWB’s learning programs are continually evolving to grow with and respond to the Australian engineering education sector. Strong and growing links with universities are required to ensure EWB’s education programs continue to be relevant, accessible, and of unique value.

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Delivery of a consistently well-coordinated, planned and communicated quality Education Program that focuses on the EWB Challenge in accordance with university partner needs.
  2. Development of learning resources for the EWB Challenge (community-centred project briefs and multimedia in coordination with the EWB Engineering and in-country teams) and leveraging these across the Education and learning Program.
  3. Delivery of learning content in face-to-face and online formats using engaging and participatory methodologies (workshops, guest presentations/lectures) across EWB Education programs and student learning journey.
  4. Group facilitation, training and leadership on overseas and domestic education programs, immersives and other training including e-learning platform.
  5. Build and maintain strong relationships with program partners (university and community stakeholders) and with the broader engineering education sector, including leading the delivery of university-facing events including awards presentations and project showcases.
  6. Develop and manage the budget for the EWB Challenge to support the broader curriculum integrated program strategy.

Selection Criteria

You will have demonstrated success in and/or proven knowledge in:

  • Design and delivery of programs or curriculum in the university sector;
  • Engineering, sustainability, appropriate technology or development practice;
  • Partnership management and co-creating value with diverse stakeholders;
  • Facilitation skills including delivering workshops and/or lectures with varied audiences;
  • Engaging with students to facilitate learning outcomes associated with technology stewardship and/or sustainable development practice.
  • Desirable: Community engagement

This role will require you to:

  • Be confident working in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environments;
  • Contribute learning, ideas, feedback, and knowledge across the EWB team and a network of academics;
  • Proactively engage with a wide range of stakeholders and appropriately identify and respond to opportunities and challenges presented;
  • Find inspiration in the potential of the university sector affiliated with EWB and our programs;
  • Constantly seek opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of EWB’s programs.
  • Use a variety of online systems to collaborate and present impactful learning content.
