JOB DESCRIPTION

The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation is one of Sydney's largest frontline charities and has been operating for 38 years.

Our mission is to provide assistance to address the cause and effect of homelessness and poverty, as well as unemployment, faced by marginalised individuals. We succeed in achieving this through a combination of caring services like food provision, medical and social welfare, and education.

Our Social Health and Wellbeing team are the first point of contact for people facing multiple complex challenges in their lives. They offer a range of support from crisis support, case management, essential needs assistance including bills assistance, medical, dental and complimentary medical services.

THE ROLE

We are currently looking for an Intake Case Worker to join our Social Health and Wellbeing team. The Intake Case Worker is the first point of contact to new and existing clients to support and identify goals and objectives that meet individual needs.

This position is the first point both face-to-face and by phone, and involves triaging clients through intake assessments and arranging support options through the SHW channels, and where applicable, referring alternative support agencies.

DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

  • Working with individuals through an intake assessment that holistically and flexibly meet the needs of the individual.
  • Referring clients through to casework, counselling and clinical, ensuring mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of individuals are appropriately catered
  • Assessing vulnerability of clients and provision of Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (‘EAPA’) applications and financial assistance requests
  • Liaising and referring to internal and external service providers while providing emotional support and relief
  • Ensuring all client information and provisions of service are correctly entered into the client database and other reporting mechanisms where required
  • Supporting employees and volunteers in the delivery of frontline services to the community when required

WE NEED YOU TO HAVE:

  • Tertiary qualification in social work, social science, welfare, or related discipline
  • Minimum two (2) years-experience in navigating and supporting individuals to navigate ‘Social Housing’ providers
  • Working knowledge dealing with individuals with mental health and AOD and experience referring out for further clinical assessment and support and case management

All Bill Crews Foundation employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to comply with relevant booster vaccinations approved by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status will be required prior to commencing this role.

Applicants must hold work rights for Australia, and the successful candidate will be required to complete a Working With Children Check and Police Check as part of their employment.
