The Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education (FARE) is a not-for-profit organisation with a vision for an Australia free from alcohol harms – where communities are healthy and well and where laws, policies and programs are fair, equitable and just.
We work collaboratively with local communities, people with lived experience of alcohol harm, values-aligned organisations, health professionals, researchers and governments across the nation to raise community awareness of alcohol harms, advocate for policy change aimed at preventing alcohol-related harms and increase accountability of companies that fuel harm.
Working at FARE you will be part of an organisation developing and delivering innovative health programs and policy solutions to reduce alcohol harm to improve the health and wellbeing of everyone in Australia.
The purpose of this role is to support the Foundation’s work in advocating for changes to laws, policies and programs to prioritise the health and wellbeing of families and communities. The role includes undertaking complex policy analysis, developing high quality written materials, contributing to advocacy strategy development and engaging with a range of senior government, ministerial and peak body stakeholders. The candidate will bring a high degree of existing policy expertise in a relevant policy area. The Senior Policy and Research Advisor will be responsible for working within the Policy and Research Team to undertake analysis of ongoing and emerging research areas, identify areas for investigation, analyse issues and evidence base, develop constructive policy solutions, draft policy documents, contribute to advocacy strategies, inform media and communications outputs and make recommendations to governments and other stakeholders.
FARE strives to be a supportive and welcoming workplace where everyone feels empowered to bring their authentic selves to work and is committed to continuous improvement on this front.
Alcohol affects many Australian communities, and so we especially want to make sure FARE is a workplace that embraces diversity and welcomes people who have lived experience of alcohol harms.
