We are looking for a values-driven, compassionate, and empathetic Assistant House Manager to join one of our SIL Accommodation homes in Narraweena.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

You will be assisting to lead a team of dedicated workers providing support to five special people across within their home and out in the community. Home and community-based activities are centred on their needs and interests, such as going shopping, to the cafés, or supporting them if they need to be driven to various appointments or to visit their families.

THE ROLE INCLUDES:

  • Leading a dedicated team of committed support workers.
  • Participating in the weekly roster and providing direct support in all aspects (personal care, mealtime assistance, behavioural management, medication) as required.
  • Ensuring a person centred and active support approach is embedded within the culture of the home to optimise independence.
  • Participation in an on-call roster which includes staff and resident support outside normal business hours, weekends and overnight.
  • Supporting housemates to engage and participate in their community
  • Implement our family governance approach to enable optimal health and well-being to be achieved, including the active involvement of people with disabilities, their families and referrers in the identification of health care needs and the training of staff around individual needs and preferences.
  • Overseeing the effective operation of the House including but not limited to:
  • Assisting in day to day activities for the running of the house
  • Participation in staff recruitment, on boarding, ongoing engagement, and leadership
  • Management of weekly staff rosters
  • Developing and maintaining excellent housemate and family/support network relationships as well as with other key stakeholders
  • Adherence to legislation and organisational policies and procedures to ensure appropriate health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace including compliance related activities i.e. medication compliance, vehicle checks/audits, first aid/AED audits
  • Preparation for and/or attending to medical appointments
  • Social planning for the housemates
  • Weekly menu/meal planning
  • Maintaining the CRM, housemate folders and Google Drive
  • Other administrative tasks

YOUR SKILLS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • A relevant qualification and/or experience as a senior support worker or Assistant House Manager role or other relevant areas of the disability or community sectors
  • Experience in support for complex cerebral palsy, epilepsy, stoma care, intellectual disabilities and behavioural management. This is helpful but not essential - training will be provided.
  • Outstanding organisational skills and ability to work in a highly dynamic environment with competing priorities
  • Rostering and scheduling experience or the ability and interest to learn.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written and experience liaising with key stakeholders including families
  • A commitment to providing responsive, person-centred, and considerate care
  • A positive and energetic personality
  • A passion for social enterprise and a commitment to shifting the dial for people with disability!

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Flexibility and preparedness to work various morning, evening, and weekend shifts and on-call
  • Possess or be willing to obtain a NDIS Worker Screening Check and a Working with Children Check
  • Possess or be willing to obtain a Current First Aid & CPR (HLTAID003) Certificate
  • Fully Covid Vaccination including Booster
  • Solid Computer Skills
  • Access to a vehicle
  • Full Driver's Licence, or P2 Licence
  • Rights to work in Australia
