About the Role

As the Coordinator of Financial Capability, you’ll be part of FCA’s efforts to foster a stable, diverse, and nationally connected financial counselling and capability worker workforce. You’ll play a key role in coordinating the financial capability workforce, which includes developing targeted resources, facilitating training, and connecting financial capability workers across Australia. By supporting the FCW community, you’ll contribute to a well-supported, cohesive network that strengthens financial resilience in diverse communities.

This role reports to the Director of First Nations Policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the FCW community of practice and cultivate strong relationships with agencies employing FCWs.
  • Facilitate consultation opportunities with financial services and other stakeholders, working closely with agencies that support financial capability.
  • Lead training initiatives, including sessions at the FCA conference and a series of online workshops/webinars.
  • Create and curate educational materials that support financial literacy and capability, accessible on the FCA toolkit website.
  • Compile and maintain a national database of FCWs, ensuring key stakeholders like the National Helpline are updated.
  • Develop and maintain role clarity documents, including the FCW handbook, in collaboration with financial capability workers.

About You

We are seeking a candidate who identifies as a First Nations person, with a deep understanding of First Nations cultures and societies, as well as lived experience that supports connection to community.

Additionally, you will bring:

  • A comprehensive understanding of the challenges affecting First Nations people and CALD communities in contemporary Australian society.
  • Exceptional communication and organisational skills to manage and deliver project activities effectively.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and the broader community.
  • A commitment to culturally respectful and safe practices in the workplace.
