Your Role

Foodbank is embarking on a once-in-a-generation transformational campaign. This exciting role has been designed to support Foodbank’s Philanthropy and Campaign Manager to deliver a multi-million-dollar comprehensive fundraising project, including a new facility build and 5-10 years of new strategic programs.

You will be responsible for an existing portfolio of high value donors, as well as leading opportunities to acquire new ones. This role is perfect for someone who is looking for responsibility to develop and grow a philanthropy program through relationship-based fundraising, while also being involved in a major capital campaign.

Reporting to the Philanthropy and Campaign Manager, the newly created role of Philanthropy Lead is a diverse role that requires skills across a range of areas, including proposal writing, prospect qualification, moves management and solicitation. Various communication channels such as face-to-face meetings, phone calls, presentations and written messages will be used to engage with current and potential donors.

You will use your strong writing skills to produce compelling case for support documents and meaningful impact reporting of outputs, outcomes and deliverables for donors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the identification, qualification, cultivation, and stewardship of major gift prospects.
  • Write high quality cases for support, fundraising agreements, design plans and strategies and prepare reports.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to coordinate and develop major gift opportunities in line with the Foodbank’s strategic plans.
  • Help develop Foodbank’s bequest program from identifying bequest prospects through to confirming and stewarding bequest supporters.
  • Coordinating activities, special events, and communications to effectively engage and steward prospective and current donors.
  • Maintain information on individual donors including notes of contact, keeping within privacy guidelines within the Foodbank Salesforce database.

Key Requirements

  • Proven success in relationship-based fundraising, development, sponsorship or sales with experience in writing funding proposals.
  • Self-starter with proven ability to work independently and collaborative in a team environment and a desire to be out of the office meeting supporters.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills and sound judgment.
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent multi-tasking, planning and organisational skills.
  • Must maintain utmost discretion with regard to donor confidentiality and privacy.
  • Some travel and night and weekend work may be required to accommodate prospective donor schedules and attend campaigns specific networking events.
  • An understanding of the NFP sector and the ability to undertake activities in line with the organisation's values.
