Foodbank Queensland is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced program manager to develop and grow our School Breakfast Program which currently provides healthy breakfasts to students at over 300 Queensland schools.

Salary starting at $85,000, plus up to $15,900 NFP salary packaging benefits.

Your Role

Reporting to the Chief of Impact and Engagement, the School Breakfast Program Manager is a newly designed role, responsible for the coordination of all arms of the School Breakfast Program (SBP). As the SBP is a state-wide program, occasional travel will be required to visit schools and Member Charities.

As the Schools Breakfast Program Manager your goal will be to identify the most effective and practical approach to manage and further develop the School Breakfast Program, consolidating its diverse formats into a unified program.

The arms of the SBP to date include:

  • The “Current” SBP which distributes product in partnership with local Member Charities to over 300 schools in both Metro and Regional areas across Queensland.
  • The “Pilot” SBP which is an expanded product offering, distributed directly to 29 schools.
  • The “Far North Queensland” SBP which includes 14 schools with potential to expand to a further 13 in the Torres Strait, Cape York, Lower Gulf and Palm Island.
  • The “Regional Expansion” SBP which has recently been funded in order to facilitate expansion into 60 regional schools across Queensland.

You will also have the opportunity to run the “Food for Kids” Hamper Program with 3000 hampers packed and delivered via SBP channels at the end of each school term, ensuring full tummies over the school holidays!

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the SBP is well executed across Queensland schools and Member Charities.
  • Nurture and develop relationships with Member Charities and schools to ensure they are well trained and supported, their needs and unique circumstances are understood, and that any logistical barriers to product access are overcome.
  • Develop the SBP through research and consultation with key stakeholders and determine a best practice framework that will ensure the SBP provides the best possible service for schools both now and into the future.
  • Create and implement a project plan for rolling out the SBP best practice framework.
  • Contribute to reporting and assessment of program impacts through evaluation of the strategy and implementation, and data collection.

Key Requirements

The School Breakfast Program Manager will need to possess the following skills and experience:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification and professional skills, or evidence of sufficient experience to meet the requirements of the role.
  • Experience in project management and project deliverables.
  • Experience in program design.
  • Experience working with IT systems and a sound working knowledge of IT technologies is advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work proactively and flexibly within a small team, with little need for supervision.
  • Strong administrative, organisation and time-management skills.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills with advanced written communication skills.
