The Sydney van driver role is integral to the operation of TFL’s Martin Place mobile library service on Thursday evenings as well as book pickups and filling in on other services. Key elements of the role include the management and stocking of the van, delivery to Martin Place, care of the van (fuel and washing), collection of books from publishers or other book donors, filling in at other services if volunteers are unavailable and other errands as required.

The following tasks and responsibilities are included with this role:

• Manage VW Caddy van including refuelling, cleaning and parking in a safe place near your home.
• Stock the van with books and all supplies for Martin Place mobile library service , including purchase of catering supplies
• Manage Coles/Woolworths vouchers for purchases
• Drive the van to Martin Place every Thursday evening and assist with mobile library service (approx 1 hour)
• As required, pick up books from publishers and book reviewers and make deliveries to Camperdown
• Reporting to MD

Ideal skills & Qualities:

• Passion for literacy and interest in homelessness issues
• Excellent people skills and ability to have cheerful conversations with vulnerable people
• Ability to manage small budget
• Minimum 10 years work experience
• Preference for homelessness sector/ volunteering experience
