About FOUR PAWS

FOUR PAWS is the global animal welfare organisation for animals under human influence, which reveals suffering, rescues animals in need and protects them. Our programs and campaigns focus on stray dogs and cats, companion animals, farm animals, wild animals kept in inappropriate conditions and animals affected by disasters and conflicts. In our sanctuaries, we provide a safe home for rescued big cats, bears, orangutans and elephants around the world.

THE ROLE

This role is ideal for a mid-career professional with the talent and eagerness to develop their experience and skills in Major Donor or Gifts-in-Wills Relationship Fundraising.

This key position is responsible for the Donor Relationship Programs at FOUR PAWS Australia. This is an incredible opportunity to fully design and execute a stewardship strategy for both Mid-to-Major and Gifts-in-Wills supporters. This role is responsible for identifying, recruiting, developing, and stewarding mid-to-major donors, writing and pitching winning proposals, making direct asks, communicating impact and organising bespoke supporter events.

With the support of Australia and global team, and guided by a three-year fundraising strategy, this role will be responsible for generating philanthropic and bequest support, primarily from generous individuals. While the programs grow in size, the role will oversee both Gifts-in-Wills and High Value donor programs so an enthusiasm to engage and understand the differences and similarities of these two distinct areas, and curiosity to expand your skills in both is critical.

Most importantly this role allows you to use your relationship skills to make a difference to the lives of animals across the globe.

WHAT A TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans, budgets and activities for the target groups.
  • Develop end-to-end stewardship strategies and journeys for the target groups, using a combination of one-to-one, and one-to-many approaches.
  • Ensure a data-driven approach is in place for decision making, with emphasis on segmentation models, consistent business rules, accurate reporting and data integrity.
  • Prepare proposals, solicitation and other cultivation and stewardship material for Major donors and prospects.
  • Undertake and compile prospect research.
  • Increase revenue from Mid-Value Donors by upgrading existing donors from Mid-to-Major Donors, by recruiting and upgrading new Mid value donors.
  • Increase long term and Gifts-in-Wills revenue.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with supporters with regular telephone or written contact (and face-to-face engagement where appropriate) to ensure their satisfaction stays high.
  • Plan and execute supporter engagement events for Mid, Major and Gift-in-Will supporters.
  • Manage and monitor budgets, accurately track and attribute revenue and expenses to ensure strategic and operational oversight.

About you

  • A passion for animal welfare and the vision and mission of FOUR PAWS
  • Self-motivated, and proactive
  • Can work collaboratively in a team environment
  • A growth mindset, and ambitious, positive approach to your work
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • High level verbal and written communication skills including strong ability to create and present engaging proposals, impact reports and cases for support.
  • Enthusiasm for the areas of both Gift-in-Wills and Major Giving, and an understanding that different approaches are required for each
  • Excellent judgement and ability to prioritise effectively

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience increasing revenue through high value relationship cultivation.
  • Experience engaging high-net-worth individuals and/or Gifts-in-Wills supporters in a fundraising context and ‘making the ask’.
  • Practised in managing a prospect/sales pipeline using data to inform decision making.
  • Working experience using CRMs for relationship management (ideally Salesforce, or a willingness to learn a new system).
  • Qualifications in marketing or fundraising are a bonus.
  • Numeracy skills; experience making data driven decisions, and managing budgets, ROI, forecasting and performance reporting.
  • Previous experience working in a global organisation would be a bonus.
