About the role

  • Permanent full time (based in Newington)
  • Salary: $68,039 - $71,918 (FTE salary level based on exp)

This position works within the Marketing and Communications team and is multi-faceted with responsibilities across internal communications, marketing, media and online/digital. The Communications Officer is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of communications and marketing plans, management of all digital assets for FPA and supporting brands and working closely with internal colleagues and external media agencies to positively promote FPA within the sexual and reproductive health space.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Communications Officer will work with internal pillars, members of the Comms & Marketing team, Assoc Director Media and Strategic Communications and external stakeholders as needed, to deliver strategies that are on brand, future focused and in keeping with FPA’s reputation.

The role demands a dynamic individual with proven experience in media, marketing and communications, a clear understanding of the communications landscape including storytelling, e-DM /e-newsletter development, social media posting, creating and reporting, an interest in emerging digital trends and applying these to FPA’s communications & marketing strategy. The role will work closely within a diverse team so excellent interpersonal skills are necessary. The role also requires strong content writing skills and a basic understanding of Canva and MailChimp.

The role works in close coordination with the Digital Marketing Officer role, with shared responsibilities in sourcing and developing content, managing internal stakeholder requirements and working in a fast paced, agile environment.

Selection Criteria

Essential (Including Qualifications)

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (media, marketing, communications, journalism, arts)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills (please provide two examples of written work on any platform with your application)
  • Demonstrated experience in media relations work or as a media professional
  • Demonstrated experience in organisational social media communication and/or digital marketing strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in content creation for a range of social media channels, including development of assets such as videos, reels, scrolling posts etc
  • Demonstrated experience in reporting on website and social media metrics across various digital platforms
  • Experience in developing and curating a social media calendar, scheduling and strategy
  • An understanding of marketing and communications strategies, including audience segmentation
  • An ability to work to deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Must have full permanent working rights in Australia

Desirable

  • Basic graphic design skills and video content creation skills, via mobile devices
  • Knowledge of Canva and/or WordPress would be ideal
