About the role

Part time position (20 hours per week) until 30 June 2026

Base Full Time Salary: $98,828 - $102,177 (salary is based on experience)

Reporting to the State Social Worker, the Social Worker - SEARCH Project works within a multidisciplinary tam and is responsible for delivering professional and high-quality social work services to clients in rural and regional NSW. The role undertakes non-directional pregnancy options counselling, disseminates information, and facilitates referrals to appropriate health care providers particularly with regards to abortion access.

SEARCH is a pilot project to establish a health service model that will build the capacity of local service providers in regional and rural areas to provide high quality reproductive health services that are sustainable in the long-term. The project targets locations in regional and rural NSW which have the highest reproductive health need and limited access to safe and affordable services, especially for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (i.e. Bachelor of Social work (4 year degree) minimum) including eligibility for membership with Australian Association of Social Work (aasw.asn.au/membershipinfo/membership-eligibility)
  • Minimum 3 years clinical experience in women’s health, reproductive & sexual health, or other relevant field (e.g. community health)
  • High level clinical social work skills and experience, including counselling and advocacy, in working with clients face to face and by telehealth
  • Proven ability to contribute to continuous quality improvement processes and adhere to regulatory requirements
  • High level ability to manage competing demands and adapt effectively to change
  • High level interpersonal, negotiation, written and oral communication skills including advocacy, networking, and report writing skills
  • Sound computer skills, including MS Office applications and electronic medical records
  • Experience working with a diverse client base – this may include young people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally & linguistically diverse people and/or people with disability
  • Must have Australian working rights

Desirable

  • Accredited Mental Health Social Worker approved to provide pregnancy options counselling services under Medicare

Other requirements

  • A Criminal Record Check and a Working with Children Check are required prior to commencement in the role.
