Friends of the Earth Melbourne (FoEM) advocates and educates on key environmental and social justice issues. We played a leading role in securing government funding for renewable energy, creating 200,000ha of red gum national parks, getting a permanent ban on fracking and unconventional gas mining in Victoria and contributed over many decades to the end of native forest logging in Victoria We are currently working on a number of crucial campaigns that involve advocating for forest protection, supporting, promoting the uptake of renewable energy into the market and working with communities to oppose fossil fuel use.

Role Overview
The purpose of the role is to ensure FoEM’s financial security and maintain a steady growth in income by managing and pursuing different avenues of fundraising. The role also involves managing relationships and communications with FoEM’s supporters, donors and the wider community. The Fundraising Coordinator will be part of Friends of the Earth’s Operations Collective, and the incumbent’s role will involve making strategic decisions about the direction and future of the organisation.
POSITION INFORMATION
Contract:
4 days / 32 hours per week, 12 month position.
Wage:
$88,712.00 per annum, pro rata, plus superannuation and entitlements.

- The position is subject to a probationary period of three months.
- The position will be reviewed during the period of appointment with a view to fine tuning the role and establishing it as a permanent position. With satisfactory performance, it is highly likely the candidate will be offered this permanent position.

Key Responsibilities summary
- Development and implementation of new strategies to build the Active Friends membership program;
- Track donor engagement and develop and execute 2 donor appeals per year; and
- Coordination of at least one peer to peer fundraiser per year or other fundraising member activity;
- Coordinations of several fundraising events per year;
- Digital campaigning and social media content creation
- Maintain and grow our member base and our members active engagement
Tasks Include:
- Maintain and grow regular monthly giving program via telemarketing, digital and face to face strategies;
- Organise and expand annual and one-off fundraising events;
- Coordinate two annual appeals via direct mail, email and other media;
- Attend Operation Collective meetings every two weeks;
- Work with Campaigns Coordinators to develop a digital campaign strategy and build FoEMs general supporter database.
- Coordinate Major donor program and cultivate new major gifts;
- Liaise with Finances and Operations Coordinators regarding membership and donor requirements; and
- Develop and implement new fundraising strategies.
- Provide fundraising support and advice to campaigners including maintenance and creation of fundraising-related guides and manuals for use within the organisation;
- Recruiting, coordinating and inspiring volunteers to assist with fundraising activities;
- Assist in general maintenance of office as required, such as phone answering, postal collection and so forth;
Key Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Demonstrated commitment to environmental and social justice;
- Experience in fundraising management and a successful track record in fundraising planning, delivery and evaluation for the non‐profit sector;
- Experience managing major donors or major donor events
- Experience in membership management and development;
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate financially beneficial relationships with a range of individuals and groups, including successful funding applications;
- Clear and concise verbal communication and promotion/ presentation skills;
- Experience with digital campaigning and social media strategy
- Experience in managing contact lists and databases;
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team;
- Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to work unsupervised;
- An understanding of, and willingness to adhere to, a consensus decision making process and collective structure
Desirable:
- Experience in working with and co-ordinating volunteers;
- Experience in promotions and public relations;
- Experience working with Nation Builder; and
- Current Australian Driving Licence
