YouthGrounds Café is a social enterprise café dedicated to supporting young people through training and skill-building opportunities.

We’re currently seeking expressions of interest for a variety of roles, full-time, part-time and casual. These roles include a barista manager and baristas, with the potential for flexibility in days of week, and times of day. The barista manager will take on the leadership role of managing the business.

The ideal Manager candidate will also be passionate about sharing their industry knowledge with young people in our training programs and creating a supportive environment.

About the roles

The Barista Manager will manage the cafe and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, preparing and serving outstanding coffee.

Other barista role duties will include:

• Managing stock levels and ordering
• Serving customers and making them feel welcome
• Act as a supportive and encouraging mentor to young program participants, fostering their personal growth, and training on the coffee machine and in coffee operations
• Helping with general duties including accurate order taking, cash handling, serving food, cleaning and supporting the team.

YouthGrounds Training Program

YouthGrounds also runs a Training Program, which is a 10-week Café and work readiness program tailored for young people aged 16-24 with a connection to the West. This program is designed to offer progressive real-world experiences and skill development. Our comprehensive program covers a wide range of essential areas, including barista skills, interview techniques, networking strategies, effective communication, resume building, teamwork, employee rights, financial management, and more. The Barista Manager candidate would ideally have experience in training young people, as this will be an ongoing and important part of café operations.
