About the Role
We are seeking a Communications Assistant to join our Communications team.
Reporting to the Communications Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the communications and events teams in designing and editing materials for a range of health audiences, channels, and contexts, including research and analysis reports, case studies, briefs, toolkits, user guides, EDMs, websites, etc.
- Coordinating responses to incoming media inquiries, reviewing media releases, and relevant news coverage monitoring and distribution. Producing media packs, maintaining media contacts, recording and maintaining a library of media interviews.
- Ensuring branding and style compliance, proofreading, and representing communications and events team policies, guidelines, and processes across all materials. Tracking products and materials according to deadlines.
- Liaising with suppliers, agencies and other vendors as part of campaign research and assist in developing and producing materials.
- Providing administrative support, including assistance with calendar management, coordinating meetings, minute taking, preparing agendas and background papers, and following up on actions.
- Supporting conferences and events by managing exhibit arrangements, coordinating staff support, and materials.
- Supporting social media activities by repurposing, creating, editing and producing creative content in line with GCPHN social media strategy and campaign plans.
This is a full-time maximum term contract to 30 September 2023, with a view to extension.

About You
GCPHN is seeking to engage a Communications Assistant with:
- Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Business, Journalism, Communications, or Public Relations or relevant experience in a marketing or communications role or internship.
- Social media management skills across a range of digital platforms, including Hootsuite and social/web analytics software (Google Analytics), and experience translating it.
- Ability to deliver a high level of customer service within a multi-disciplinary team environment attending to administrative functions and tasks.
- Ability to work in a team environment and autonomously, prioritise workloads and liaise with stakeholders to support productive working relationships internally and externally.
- While not essential, with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop); presentation design and visual communications collateral creation will be highly regarded.
