Groote Eylandt and Bickerton Island Enterprises (GEBIE) operates a Community Development Programme (CDP) in the Communities of Angurugu, Umbakumba and Milyakburra. CDP supports Jobseekers to build skills, address barriers to build on work readiness skill sets and contribute to their communities through delivery of a range of Community Projects and Workshops.

We are looking for a creative and innovative person to support building on the capacity and hospitality work readiness skill sets to professionally develop our local team and Jobseekers on our CDP caseload.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage a team of local staff and work collaboratively with the Umbakumba and Angurugu Kitchen teams to engage in, and deliver meaningful workshops that build on capacity and wellbeing of our caseload
• Weekly Meal Plans and preparation of nutritious healthy food with the team daily including breakfast, morning tea and lunch approximately 80-100 pax
• Engage with RTOs and support Jobseekers and local staff to undertake relevant training
• Plan Workshops in collaboration with stakeholders in the region including NT Health to deliver nutrition and health initiatives
• Maintain all aspects of a small commercial kitchen including ordering, receipting food and collecting other supplies from the barge weekly;
• Ensure a high standard of workplace, health and safety standards
• Manage and be responsible for all commercial cooking equipment;
• Assist with the completion of reports as required, such as weekly menu plans and six monthly plans

ESSENTIAL

• Demonstrated experience working respectfully with First Nations people
• Class C Drivers Licence
• Experience managing commercial-style kitchens
• Experience working in remote communities
• Computer literacy

DESIRABLE

• Experience working within a Community Development Program framework will be highly regarded.
• Nutritional knowledge and strong interest in health and nutrition.
