On the frontline and face-to-face, the St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria and its wide network of over 12,000 volunteers provide practical welfare support, advocacy and friendship for the most vulnerable members of our community. Key services include Vinnies Shops; Vinnies Soup Vans; support programs for people experiencing mental illness; home visitation; youth programs; assistance for asylum seekers and refugees; education and tutoring; and a range of other volunteer-run initiatives that assist people in need.

The Philanthropy Manager will be responsible for growing philanthropic revenue through nurturing key relationships in a portfolio of existing and new major donors. This role will research prospects, grow and maintain strong pipelines and steward donors through the giving journey through compelling storytelling and supporting collateral.

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising and leading a small team, the Philanthropy Manager will implement and oversee the execution of the major gift fundraising strategy. You will work collaboratively with other teams and key stakeholders to provide donor-centred communications, campaigns and impactful opportunities to contribute towards. This role will also evaluate and report on the effectiveness of major gift-related activities, looking for areas of opportunities and improvements.

About YOU

  • Proven experience in fundraising and/or relationship fundraising and the successful generation of major gifts and significant revenue,
  • Sound knowledge of current best practice fundraising principles, moves management, giving motivations and the philanthropic landscape,
  • Outstanding communication, written and persuasive skills, able to be a compelling storyteller and do 'the ask',
  • Exceptional presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise across a variety of stakeholders and develop sustainable donor relationships,
  • Excellent knowledge of CRM software as well as the ability to analyse and report on program performance and financial outcomes,
  • Qualifications in a related field are desirable.
