About the JCTS

Joint Colleges Training Services Pty Ltd (JCTS) is a joint venture of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (the RACGP). JCTS will enable RACGP and ACRRM to deliver shared GP training activities for the Colleges’ respective fellowship training programs and includes the development and delivery of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health strategic plans, cultural education and cultural mentorship, the provision of registrar housing in some remote Northern Territory and communities and other potential areas of collaboration.

About you

As our Regional Manager for WA, you’ll have in-depth knowledge of Aboriginal population and health care needs in the region allowing you to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Your proven leadership capability and experience combined with your understanding and knowledge of community and traditional and contemporary ways and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history will enable you to thrive in this role. You’ll also have:

  • highly developed analytical and lateral thinking skills and the ability to take the initiative, drive change and implement innovations.
  • proven experience effectively managing complex issues within a highly political and complex environment.
  • an extensive understanding of the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service sector at a regional and state level
  • high level communication skills (verbal / written) with the ability to use strong discretion and judgement in a complex business and political environment.
  • drivers licence and be willing to travel.

About the opportunity

Reporting to the Deputy General Manager you’ll be responsible for managing a regional team and providing leadership to the regional and local delivery and promotion of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health training strategic plan. Key to your success will be your ability to collaborate with the wider team including cultural educators, medical educators and other senior managers or RACGP and ACCRM in developing programs and implementing initiatives that will enhance cultural awareness and safety within GP Training programs. Some responsibilities will include:

  • building and fostering strong working partnerships with JCTS Regional Management team, Senior Leadership teams from both GP Colleges and external stakeholders and our Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander communities to support the execution of strategic initiatives and priorities and deliver successful and efficient outcomes.
  • establishing an equitable communication channel that support the whole network of ACCHO’s in the region in line with strategic and program initiatives.
  • providing support to the Deputy General Manager on operational and strategic matters, including managing change, a diverse range of critical issues, stakeholder interactions and projects
  • leading a high performing team of cultural educators to direct, coordinate and assist their efforts on the effective delivery of Aboriginal Health strategic plans and other program initiatives.
