Salary: $86,400.00 - $95,000.00 P/A

6 weeks Annual Leave as well as a two-week paid shutdown over the Christmas Break.

Operating under the direction of the General Manager and in accordance with STKIC plans, policies and relevant legislation, this position is responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Community Safety Patrol (CSP) Programs at Yuendumu & Willowra. The role will include the oversight of the Community Safety Patrols and working in collaboration with the Mediation & Justice Coordinator in Yuendumu.

The Coordinator’s role will include the support, mentoring and supervision of Community Safety staff and to work collaboratively with the General Manager on strategic and sustainable planning to ensure the future development of service delivery in the region. The role includes a focus on mentoring and providing support to Community Safety Patrol Officers and Team Leaders; identify recruiting, training, and skills improvement opportunities, so that the community has a sustainable service delivery model.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Yuendumu Community Safety Patrol Coordinator has a responsibility to:

  • Mentor, supervise, and collaborate with the Community Safety Team Leaders and Community Safety Patrol Officers.
  • Support the delivery of an effective Community Safety Patrol (CSP) in the community; including mentoring of Team Leaders, and supervision and management of their relevant reporting requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with local stakeholder agencies to ensure the community is a safe environment for all community members.
  • Ensure mentoring provided to the Community Safety Patrol team is sustainable, builds capacity of local staff and is aligned to STKIC’s Policy and Procedures.
  • Manage the maintenance and cleanliness of all relevant STKIC infrastructure and facilities within their responsibility, including but not limited to, patrol vehicles and allocated working areas.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports upon request from management, including monthly progress reports and operational reports.
  • Work with the General Manager, community leaders, clients, community organisations and government agencies to plan, design, implement and monitor strategies in responding to family violence.
  • Develop local conflict management processes in conjunction with the General Manager, Directors, CSP staff and the Mediation teams.
  • Build community capacity to respond to family violence and raise awareness and encourage community participation in developing family violence prevention initiatives.
  • Support staff and clients through stressful and dynamic environments.
  • Create strong working relationships with all staff to support them in undertaking their duties and responsibilities effectively and nurturing an environment in which initiative is encouraged and practiced.
  • In corporation with the General Manager and Office Manager, develop and coordinate training and professional development requirements for all STKIC employees.
  • Working with the General Manager and other stakeholders to coordinate and implement support staff functions, manage performance, recruitment, mentoring and short-term relief.
  • As a team member in a cross-cultural environment of mutual support, effectively contribute and promote a safe and harmonious work environment.
  • Conduct solution brokerage for the Directorate’s remote service delivery as required ensuring an effective, efficient and courteous service is provided to all service users and the community.
  • Ensure maintenance and standard of program resources are in line with STKIC WH&S Policies and Procedures.
  • Carry out any other duty delegated by the General Manager relevant to the delivery of the Community Safety Patrol service.
  • This position may require travel to other STKIC communities to liaise with other CSP staff and travel to Alice Springs for STKIC business or training.
