Role Purpose

The Manager Training and Sector Capability will foster the growth, efficiency, and capabilities of the community services sector through high quality training programs. They will lead strategic initiatives and develop a Learning and Development Framework aimed at enhancing the capabilities, resources, and knowledge within the sector to address the diverse needs of the community.

The Sector Capability Manager sits within the Good Shepherd Institute and will have expertise in designing and developing workshops and learning materials for the community services sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities within the sector and develop proactive strategies to address them.
  • Develop a comprehensive Learning and Development Framework for the organisation and ensure that all learning and development initiatives are planned, designed, delivered, reviewed and evaluated in alignment with it.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, not for profit organisations, and community organisations, to identify sector needs.
  • Oversee capability uplift programs, workshops, and training sessions to the sector, and support staff in their development and delivery of the learning materials.
  • Regularly communicate results and achievements to internal and external stakeholders through reports, presentations, and other channels.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in leadership roles within training or the community services sector.
  • Qualifications and expertise in education, training design and delivery. A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies and training delivery techniques.
  • Experience in using Learning Management Systems (preferably in Totara or Moodle).
