Gould League www.gould.org.au is an independent not-for-profit environmental charity who have pioneered and influenced environmental education in Australia for over 110 years. We run incursion and excursion programs for schools, early learning centres and community groups and produce resources such as curriculum guides, educational books and posters. Although Gould League was initially devoted to bird protection and education, we moved into broader sustainability issues in the 1960s and 70s. Our programs now address a vast array of key environmental topics such as water, waste, energy use, biodiversity, ecology, hazards and disasters, climate change, biomes and food security, circular economy and more as part of geography, science, economics and sustainability studies. We develop the programs you deliver them. Job hours are flexible and usually delivered in school hours. Sessions are typically 3 or 5 hours a day with two or three sessions a week typically offered during the school year.
We currently offer in excess of 25 different education programs linked to curriculum for children from K to Year 12 plus business and community groups providing engaging opportunities for people of all ages to learn in, about and for the environment. Our excursion programs are delivered at Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary, Toolangi State Forest and our Cheltenham Sustainability Centre with incursion programs delivered to schools across Greater Melbourne. Opportunities will soon also exist for delivery into regional Victoria.
Our Educators are the life blood of the organisation, responsible for the delivery of high quality and engaging education programs linked to the Victorian Curriculum. Flexible, knowledgeable and dynamic staff in this role will ensure high satisfaction from visiting teachers and strong levels of engagement from students.
We are currently recruiting for part time Educators for our Sustainability Education Centre in Cheltenham, Toolangi State Forest, Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary in Beaumaris and incursions to Greater Melbourne pre-schools and schools. Strong preference for candidates who can teach across multiple locations.
Science, Sustainability, Geography and or Teaching qualification (VIT) or equivalent experience.
Covid 19 double vaccination and First Aid Certificate. The preference is for a qualification in "Provide First Aid HLTAID003" formerly known as Level 2 Workplace First Aid or higher (this is a day qualification and can be gained prior to program delivery if successful applicant).
