An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Free from Violence Project Coordinator to join the Community Wellbeing Department within Greater Shepparton City Council (GSCC).

As part of the Local Government Free From Violence program, this role will lead key internal and external facing projects and initiatives aimed at embedding organisational and community change in relation to family violence and gender equity.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of the Local Government Guide for Preventing Family Violence and All Forms of Violence Against Women in Greater Shepparton.
  • Partner with internal and community stakeholders to develop, co-design and deliver evidence-informed initiatives to promote gender equity and the prevention of violence against women, tailored to meet the needs of the Greater Shepparton municipality.
  • Represent Council and advocate on behalf of Council at appropriate committees and forums in relation to primary prevention and gender equality.
  • Work in partnership with other services areas of Council to support the implementation of the Greater Shepparton City Council’s Gender Equality Action Plan and related initiatives.
  • Support workforce capability to recognise and respond to family violence and promote gender equity across Council’s service delivery, and internal policies and procedures.

The successful applicant will have relevant qualifications or experience in family violence/gender studies, project management and in organisational change as well as advocating on social disadvantage.

This part-time temporary position (ending January 2027) is part of a flexible Community Wellbeing department who are passionate about seeing positive outcomes within the organisation and community. Note: This position is subject to a 6 month qualifying period in accordance with the Fair Work Australia minimum employment period.
