THE TEAM

This opportunity is within our Field Operations team that sits in our Program Department that includes Creative Confrontation, Campaigners, Engagement, Communications experts, Investigations and more.

You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate across the department to organise the strategic actions that supersize our campaign impact! Whether it's stopping a huge new dangerous coal mine, taking the fight of the Pacific to the world's biggest stages, or pushing huge corporations to go 100% renewable, you'll be working on campaigns we believe will make the world safer and more just.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Creative Confrontation Assistant/Warehouse Manager to assist with the development and implementation of creative confrontation tactics to further campaign objectives and achieve Greenpeace’s mission. This role also holds primary responsibility for managing our Sydney warehouse space, and actions equipment.

This role is reporting to the Head of Field Operations and works alongside a team consisting of two Creative Confrontation Coordinators and two Volunteer and Activist Coordinators. Together you will work on the planning, preparation, coordination and implementation of Greenpeace Australia Pacific’s (GPAP)’s creative confrontation activities including direct action, direct communication, protest and interventions.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We’re looking for someone with an enthusiasm for all things actions and ready to learn the ropes. Ideally, you have experience in designing creative and innovative actions and delivering training programs that inspire and skill people up for action.

You are a practical thinker, who can be given a task and see the steps that need to be taken. You are also excited by creativity and are up for learning and experimenting, with a motivated, excited, and enthusiastic approach to change making! Being organised and knowing how to keep a cool head in complex and often tense situations is key.

Whilst also maintaining and running our Warehouse located at our head office (Rainbow Warrior House) in Rosebery, Sydney. This will include correct maintenance of creative confrontation aspects of the warehouse and fixed assets, including the vehicle fleet, boat fleet, communications and climbing equipment, in consultation and collaboration with the specialist team leaders.

You’ll also ideally have:

  • Demonstrated capacity to deploy the right structures, systems, processes and mobilise the right people to achieve success
  • Curiosity to learn, the ability to think critically and a history of knowledge sharing and mentorship
  • Some experience in coordinating and/or team-leading in direct actions, including setting clear objectives and completing goals that are in line with Greenpeace’s cause
  • Experience facilitating, coordinating or delivering training and working with volunteers
  • Experience working with vehicles, boats or other skills relevant to the maintenance of specialist actions equipment.

This role must be Sydney based as it requires consistent presence in the Actions Warehouse at Rainbow Warrior house in Rosebery.

It will also consist of the occasional work in unusual hours across time-zones and on weekends, with domestic and/or international travel as required for specific actions. However, we do provide generous Time in Lieu (TOIL) for when this occurs.

Annual full-time salary: $79,404.95 per annum + 11.5% superannuation.
