Greenpeace is an independent campaigning organisation, which uses peaceful, creative confrontation to expose global environmental problems, and develop solutions for a green and peaceful future.
The Greenpeace Australia Pacific (GPAP) Program department is responsible for fighting against the planet’s enemies. The primary goal of GPAP is to bring down the might of the fossil fuel order; this team’s job is to run campaigns that fulfil this goal. Whether it’s stopping a huge new dangerous coal mine, taking the fight of the Pacific to the world’s biggest stages, or pushing huge corporations to ditch coal, you’ll be working on campaigns we believe will make the world safer and more just.
GPAP is looking for a Head of Creative Confrontation to lead the creation, development, and implementation of the creative confrontation ventures that support our campaign objectives. This role manages projects across teams and works closely with talented experts in their fields - including top level campaigners, specialist investigators, and brilliant communicators and storytellers - to unify their skill sets and amplify their creativity to help us win!
The Head of Creative Confrontation works across a huge range of different domains, from classic GPAP ‘actions’ involving boats, climbs, and banners, to field investigations and research, and in the innovative digital space. The role also involves building and maintaining a network of specialists, advisors, contractors, and creatives, and requires the know-how to draw on external expertise to make things happen.
The Head of Creative Confrontation also organises and manages people in complex and often tense situations, and requires a high awareness of risk and the consequences of actions, as well as how to mitigate risk where possible.
We’re looking for a practical creative - someone who can think imaginatively about campaigns and creative confrontation, and also see their ideas through to implementation. You’ll have a great understanding of technology and innovation, and have a vision for what the future of GPAP actions could look like, including in the digital space. This role is best suited for someone who loves teamwork and bringing people together to work for a shared goal, including those from your team and external providers.
We’re also looking for someone who understands campaign strategy and power dynamics, and recognises the incredible impacts of people power and crew engagement. This role could be an especially great fit for someone from the creative sector, or with a technology and innovation background.
Salary $101,057.76 per annum + Superannuation.
