Get ready to join the fight for a greener, more peaceful world with Greenpeace Australia Pacific (GPAP)! As an independent campaigning organisation, we creatively and peacefully shine a light on the urgent environmental challenges facing our planet. We don’t shy away from the tough issues, fighting to expose global environmental problems while developing solutions for a green and peaceful future.
At GPAP, we're not just a team; we're a movement: By joining us, you're not just taking a job – you're seizing an opportunity to make a real-world difference.
The Pacific Political Coordinator is an integral part of a passionate and committed team dedicated to fostering Pacific values, and ensuring that GPAP is a strong movement ally in the fight for Pacific climate justice through our work in the Pacific. This role sits in our Program department, and joins a growing team consisting of the Head of Pacific, Pacific Engagement Coordinator, Pacific Community Engagement Coordinator, and Pacific Community Mobiliser.
The Pacific Political Coordinator will play a leading role in amplifying work being done to confront the climate crisis and ocean protection across the Pacific Islands. Working closely with the Head of Pacific, the Pacific Political Coordinator will actively engage with Pacific governments, inter-governmental organisations and civil society organisations to understand the regional political landscape. This role will meaningfully add value to Greenpeace’s priority campaigns and amplify Pacific climate and ocean protection demand, with a particular focus on our campaign to end deep sea mining.
We are looking for someone who will help deliver on the climate and ocean’s political strategic objectives working with multiple stakeholders and other members of the Greenpeace Pacific Vuvale (family). You will actively contribute your unique skills and expertise while being willing to continuously learn and grow.
You will be skilled at building and maintaining deep and meaningful relationships with Pacific Ministers, government officials, and key influencers in the Pacific region, as well as confidently represent GPAP at political meetings, in the media, and to political and business audiences. You will also have experience developing international and regional political strategies in the Pacific, in alignment with our campaign objectives.
We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and as such want to hear from underrepresented groups, including but not limited to Pacific peoples, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, People of Colour, people with disability, women, non-binary and gender diverse people, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
