Key responsibilities

The Campaign Organiser is responsible primarily for supporting Greens federal campaign teams.

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Supporting and motivating federal campaign teams to run effective campaigns.
  2. Assist campaigns to achieve key milestones as directed by the Campaign Manager.
  3. Campaigning using a variety of engagement strategies.
  4. Under the direction of the Campaign Manager, plan and organise events, launches, training sessions, candidate briefings and other campaign activities.
  5. Supporting volunteers to campaign and use systems to run voter contact and volunteer recruitment campaigns.
  6. Overseeing data management and facilitating onboarding of new supporters and volunteers.
  7. Organising and running training sessions with campaigners and volunteers in our online systems.
  8. Ensuring the engagement of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and LGBTQIA+ communities.
  9. Any other tasks as directed.

Essential requirements

The Campaign Organiser is expected to meet the following essential requirements:

  1. A commitment to the Greens and to advancing Greens policies and principles.
  2. Excellent organisational skills, including time management, attention to detail, and an ability to work to campaign deadlines.
  3. Excellent problem solving skills.
  4. The ability to work effectively with a busy and energetic team of paid staff and volunteers.
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  6. The ability to upskill, support and delegate to other employees and volunteers on the campaign.
  7. Experience presenting training one-to-one as well as to larger groups.
  8. A good understanding of the importance of data management in campaigning.
  9. Experience in documentation development.
  10. Experience with online contact management systems.
  11. Excellent IT skills including email, internet, Microsoft Office and web-based applications and an ability to manipulate data in spreadsheets.
  12. Understanding of NSW and Australian political issues and the political system.
  13. Experience working or volunteering to support an election, social justice, environment and/or community campaign.
  14. Essential: A current Working with Children Check or a willingness to obtain one in the first month of employment.

Note: Occasional evening and weekend work and travel within NSW will be required.

Successful candidates must not be a member of another political party.

Key relationships

  • Campaign Manager: Direct line manager. Escalate issues, keep informed, advise, and receive instructions.
  • State Manager: Escalate issues, keep informed, advise, and receive instructions.
  • Work team: Work collaboratively and inclusively by participating in meetings to share information, innovation, and best practice.
  • Internal stakeholders: Work with Local Groups, campaign committees and volunteers to resolve issues and provide solutions to problems.

PAY AND CONDITIONS

  • Salary: $88,457.81 FTE p.a pro rata. + 12.5% superannuation.
  • Primary Location: The Greens NSW Office in Camperdown.
  • Hours: 28 per week. Some weekend and evening work may be required.
  • Status: Part-time fixed term contract until two weeks after the 2025 Federal Election
  • Position begins: October 2024
  • Covered by: The Greens NSW Staff Collective Agreement.
