Grants Coordinator – Part Time (3 days)

Guide Dogs Victoria is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Grants Coordinator in a part-time capacity, based at our Kew office. This role will be responsible for the successful delivery and management of our grants program, with a specific focus on growth and development of funding relationships and reports to the General Manager Fundraising & Philanthropy. The role works closely with the broader Fundraising, Client Services and Guide Dogs Service delivery teams to identify funding opportunities from the broadest possible range of activities undertaken by Guide Dogs and package these in ways that are appropriate to the needs and interests of potential funders. 

In this role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Grant coordination and income generation by researching, applying to and building relationships with Trusts and Foundations, Private Ancillary Funds (PAFs), community groups and government funders that will support Guide Dogs Victoria’s vision, range of programs and innovations.
  • Planning and coordinating visits by funders to the Kew campus to observe service delivery.
  • Coordinating the fulfilment of funders’ benefits and providing them with project update reports as required.
  • Maintaining a current pipeline register to track submissions, grants, acquittal reports and projects available for funding.
  • Liaising with Client and Guide Dog Services to identify programs, projects and other needs for funding.
  • Researching and identifying potential funding prospects.
  • In conjunction with the General Manager Fundraising & Philanthropy, developing acquisition strategies to increase growth in grant revenue and decrease attrition.
  • Achieving established revenue targets and budgets for Guide Dogs Victoria’s grants program.
  • Keeping abreast of trends within philanthropic trusts and donor development and recommend the implement appropriate strategies within Guide Dogs Victoria.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all interactions with funders via Guide Dogs Victoria CRM system (Salesforce).
  • Representing Guide Dogs Victoria at relevant events.
  • Providing accurate written information including clear and informative reports and communications.
  • Participating actively in staff meetings and share information to improve the work environment and outcomes.
  • Demonstrating initiative and contributing ideas for improving ways of working and generating ideas for innovation.
  • Keep abreast of new developments within area of responsibility.

Knowledge, Skills & Previous Experience

  • Previous experience in writing successful grant proposals and/or a donor development role.
  • Strong influencing and networking skills and the ability to make the ask
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional relationship management skills
  • Experience in using a Customer Relationship Management system (preferably Salesforce)
  • Presents people with a disability positively and educate others in the community.
  • Demonstrates confidentiality and diversity awareness.
  • Be resilient, tactful, compassionate and empathetic, communicate well, whilst having the important ability to listen.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with people particularly the elderly, ensuring privacy principals are adhered to at all times.

  • Is flexible: adapts to changing circumstances, and prioritises work and addresses what is important.
  • Is collaborative: works with others to achieve common goals and engenders teamwork.

  • The ability to manage the physical demands and requirements of the job.
  • Must be comfortable working with and around dogs.

Mandatory Safety Screening Checks

This role also requires the successful candidate to complete and receive a clear result for a NDIS Worker Screening Check, International Police Check (where required), and Working with Children Check.
