Guide Dogs NSW/ACT is one of Australia’s most trusted charities with a long history of providing services to clients who have low vision or blindness to promote their independence.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Dog Training and Service Delivery Manager to join our organisation. The position involves ensuring quality services are delivered to existing and prospective Guide Dog Handlers. Equally it ensures compliance with professional and ethical standards, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT strategic framework, policies and procedures, and relevant legislative requirements.

The key accountabilities of this role include, but not limited to:

  • People management; monitor staff workloads, staffing levels and resources, ensuring the allocation of resources is appropriate to deliver improvements in services and outcomes
  • Lead and contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment by effectively communicating and collaborating across departments
  • Ensures Guide Dog Client Services are efficient, and meet or exceed operational and financial targets and agreed metrics
  • Facilitate the timely matching of Guide Dogs in training with Clients and the timely commencement of Guide Dog Training programs
  • Ensure that dog breeding, raising, training and client programs are client-centred and responsive to client feedback.
  • Establish targets for Guide Dog client service delivery that promote organisational sustainability, meet client needs and help inform the Dog breeding and training plans

About you

Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in leading and managing a team in a busy animal welfare environment. We are looking for an individual who will actively seek to develop and enhance the skills of others to achieve the best possible outcomes. You will have exceptional communication skills and the ability to strategically plan and operate.

To be considered for this opportunity you must demonstrate (the selection criteria):

  • Demonstrated experience leading client/service driven teams that are geographically dispersed
  • Demonstrated experience in operational leadership in a demanding environment and community engagement that delivers client and community outcomes.
  • Ability to identify and propose practical solutions to problems in a timely manner and sometimes under pressure
  • Resilience and emotional intelligence, with the ability to communicate effectively in difficult circumstances
  • Hold a driver’s licence as recognised in the state of NSW in order to transport dogs.
  • Demonstrated experience in a management role to effectively manage, motivate, and lead staff, and effectively manage change.
  • Qualifications or experience in Orientation and Mobility and Guide Dog Mobility will be highly regarded
