Gumala Aboriginal Corporation (GAC) works to alleviate poverty and promote self-determination for the Banjima, Yinhawangka and Nyiyaparli people of the Pilbara region in Western Australia.

Gumala is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to join our team as Chief Operating Officer (COO). This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact by leading a diverse team across the Pilbara and Perth in delivering the strategic objectives of our Corporation. Your work will directly contribute to supporting and empowering our Gumala Traditional Owner Members.

About the Role:

As COO, you will be a critical partner to the Executive Officer (EO), tackling both operational and strategic challenges to ensure organisational efficiency and the alignment of services with the needs of our Members. This dynamic role provides the opportunity to lead teams across multiple portfolios, including Community Projects, Member Services, Housing, and our early childhood education program.

The position is based in Perth and is offered on an initial 12-month contract.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic and Operational Planning:

  • Monitor and evaluate program efficiency and relevance to ensure high-impact outcomes.
  • Align services to the evolving needs of Gumala Traditional Owner Members.

Leadership and Development:

  • Provide inspirational guidance and mentorship to your team.
  • Foster professional growth and support the development of employees across the organisation.

Financial and Risk Management:

  • Develop and manage budgets to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Oversee risk management and ensure compliance with regulations and policies.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as a key representative of the Corporation in various forums and engagements.
