WHO WE ARE:

Established in 1954, Haemophilia Foundation Victoria (HFV) is a not-for-profit charity. A proud and trusted voice of individuals and families affected by genetic bleeding disorders in Victoria for many years, HFV’s key role is to connect, support, and empower, helping individuals and families in Victoria living with an inherited bleeding disorder to achieve positive health outcomes. HFV’s team of volunteer committee of management and two part time staff are committed to ensuring that the lived experiences, expertise and needs of family and supporters/carers is recognised and informs planning and evaluation of programs and services.  We strive to develop relationships and partnerships with stakeholders and other agencies to improve care and experience of those affected. Working together, committee and staff continually drive improvement of organisational effectiveness, accountability, and sustainability. 

WHAT WE DO:

Assist people with bleeding disorders to understand and manage their physical and mental health providing a sustainable, agile, viable and relevant community focused approach.

  • Promote integrated and patient-centred healthcare for people with bleeding disorders and ensure the voice of lived experience drives HFV’s work.
  • Improve public understanding of living with bleeding disorders to reduce stigma and discrimination.
  • Promote and support key DHHS health vision.
  • Provide safe settings for peer interaction to support, advocacy and leadership and conduct activities to build resilience for people living with a bleeding disorder including those in vulnerable settings.
  • Strengthen partnerships with allied health providers to improve care experience of people with bleeding disorders and their families.
  • Collaborate with other state & territory foundations and national peak to support strategies and advocacy for national inclusion. 

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Communications Officer is a pivotal role for the success of HFV and its engagement with both our community and in the broader landscape. Our regular newsletter is an integral component of our stakeholder engagement, and this role is critical to support and grow our brand.

The stories from our members are influential to policy and funding and as Communications Officer you will be central in providing a voice to the complex needs of a diverse community impacted by inherited bleeding disorders. HFV needs innovation and passion to drive our future and in partnership we will continue to build a strong, respectful and relevant organisation to support our members for the many challenges to come.

ABOUT YOU

Key responsibility areas:

  1. Work closely with Executive Assistant to support HFV and provide a responsive and engaging service for members living with an inherited bleeding disorder.
  2. In collaboration across the agency, develop and deliver a comprehensive communication strategy to cater for diverse needs of members.
  3. Develop and grow HFV profile to attract new members and retain existing members through meaningful engagement.
  4. Guide the agency with best practice for promotion of peer support program delivery.
  5. Develop and deliver quarterly newsletter to promote positive health outcomes and link members to updated resources.
  6. In partnership with peak national body manage website.  Develop, adapt and manage content for website and social media according to needs identified and in line with communication strategy.
  7. Ensure new research, resources and relevant content that impacts the community is shared both within the agency and key external stakeholders.
  8. Be approachable for embers and the public in a confidential and professional manner to provide support as required.
  9. Coordinate and attend with the Executive Assistant peer support engagement including community camps, awareness campaigns and other activities as identified in the strategic direction of HFV.
