The role

Our Preston based Housing team provides housing services and support to our clients, who are individuals and families experiencing or facing homelessness. The role of Program Coordinator – Housing Metro leads a team that understands the role housing has in the health and wellbeing of people and is passionate about providing quality customer service and outcomes for clients and tenants. You will be responsible for managing and coordinating various housing initiatives, programs, and services to enhance the quality of life of individuals and communities, working closely with other team members to achieve program goals, assess program effectiveness, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead an integrated and comprehensive service offering support to assist people gain independence and move away from the cycle of housing crisis and homelessness
  • Oversight and continuous improvement of services and support provided by the Housing Metro team, making recommendations to management to ensure service delivery remains fit for purpose
  • Manage the provision of long term, transitional, and crisis housing programs in line with relevant legislation
  • Establish and maintain positive collaborative relationships with relevant organisations to enhance outcomes for individuals and families in the community and surrounding local government areas, including Victoria Police, healthcare providers, other social service agencies and community leaders
  • Provide leadership, coaching and support to all team members, empowering staff to make sound business decisions and be self-directed
  • Support senior leadership in advancing the team’s business planning, key objectives and broader strategic objectives of Housing Operations to ensure quality and compliance
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to maintain program budgets, including the creation of detailed budget plans, forecasting expenses, and ensuring operational and staffing costs are within budget

To successfully lead our Housing team, you will have:

  • Proven experience and success in effective people management and team leadership in program coordination, community services, or a related field.
  • Ability to work within program and legislative constraints, budgetary constraints and an appreciation of the relative prioritisation of needs in a supply constrained environment.
  • Knowledge of and passion for current community services and housing trends, issues and best practices.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, or extensive experience working in community services and/or real estate undertaking tenancy or property management. We encourage you to apply if you can demonstrate transferable skills and a willingness to undertake industry specific training.
