HeartKids Ltd is a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing support for people and their families impacted by congenital or childhood-acquired heart disease (CHD). The position sits as part of the highly motivated and specialised team that working on the National Strategic Action Plan for Childhood Heart Disease.

Purpose of the Position

The Support Project Coordinator will focus on the delivery of two key initiatives under the National Strategic Action Plan for Childhood Heart Disease:

HeartKids CHD Contact Centre: The Project Coordinator will work to build and grow the current HeartKids CHD Contact Centre service to be a national one-stop-shop for all enquires for support for patients and families impacted by CHD. This will include;

  • Responding to support requests by providing peer-to-peer support, educational resources and internal and external referrals
  • Documenting all support requests ensuring adequate data capture for reporting
  • The creation and implementation of an internal knowledgebase system
  • The implementation, pilot and launch of a webchat support request functionality

HeartKids CHD Directory: The Project Coordinator will work to progress, pilot and launch a national publicly accessible register/directory of qualified health professionals and local and national peer groups and networks. This will include;

  • Database collation and ongoing management
  • Regular meetings with development team to ensure project milestones are being met
  • Working with the HeartKids marketing and communications team to draft a marketing and promotion plan for the Directory launch

Skills, Qualifications and Attributes required:

  • The ability to impart information to a diverse community in a sensitive, culturally and age appropriate manner
  • Experience working in a support or case management type role
  • Excellent customer service skills including empathy and confidence in dealing with a diverse population of consumers and health professionals
  • Proven organisational, prioritisation, planning and time management skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Experience working in a project officer or administrator capacity including stakeholder engagement and timeline management
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time to meet short- and long-term deadlines
  • Strong IT skills including confidence with self-directed learning of new systems
  • An understanding of chronic conditions and service delivery methodologies in the context of the Australian health care system
  • Self-directed, energetic and motivated to work independently, take the lead and show initiative and collaborate with the team
  • An understanding of the not-for-profit and health sector is preferable
  • Experience in communications and marketing a bonus
  • A sense of humour, fun and inspiration
  • Applicants with lived experience of CHD or other chronic health conditions are encouraged to apply
  • Must hold a Working with Children Clearance and Police Clearance
