HOPE has been a provider of community services in Western Australia for over 120 years, providing much needed support for people in the areas of alcohol and other drugs, mental health, justice and family and domestic violence.
About the Opportunity
To provide guidance and support to TC staff and residents, and to ensure the continued integrity of the Therapeutic Community model approach by promoting and role-modelling “Community as Method” as the philosophy that underpins the program and is the primary agent for change.
Requirements of the Role
- Adhering to the Therapeutic Community Model and Community as Method, maintain team participation, promote continuous quality improvement and maintain own skills, knowledge, and expertise relevant to the sector
- To ensure the timely development of Treatment Plans with treatment goals for clients in the TC, THASP and community.
- To assist in appropriate group activities for residents according to the weekly Activity Schedule
- Facilitate therapy groups, education groups and other group activities as required.
- Conduct scheduled case and clinical reviews with residents when required.
- Participate in the Intake & Assessment process for prospective residents when required.
- To be a functioning member of the community and be a role model for” right living” to residents and other staff
- Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures
- Other duties as directed by the TC manager.
- Provide ongoing support and follow up for all THASP clients.
- Assist THASP clients transitioning back to their community of choice.
- Conduct breathalyser and drug testing for THASP clients.
About you
- University degree or relevant qualification (Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Nursing) or relevant demonstrated experience in AOD and TC.
- Previous experience working in drug and alcohol treatment settings
- Experience working with ATSI people
Desirable criteria:
- Previous experience working in a Therapeutic Community setting
- Experience working in regional WA/Australia
- High level of written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to write clinical/progress reports and maintain client records
- High level of computer skills and ability to use a range of software and office technology
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a broad range of people, and self-direct when appropriate.
Appointments will be subject to Australian residency/visa, satisfactory National Police check (within 3 months), Working With Children card, Current C or A class driver's license, First Aid Certificate, and suitable work referees.
