ABOUT US

Hope Street Youth and Family Services Ltd ("Hope Street") has over 40 years of experience delivering specialist services to young people and their families experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.

The Hope Street in Melton program is based on the Youth Foyer like model of supported transitional housing for young people and young families who are provided with safe, secure and affordable accommodation for 12 months to 2 years. Young people are active participants in creating opportunities to strengthen their housing, employment, education, training and personal and social development.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a positive and dedicated Youth Worker for a permanent part-time role for our Hope Street in Melton Service. You will be available to work the weekend set roster of 28.5 hours per fortnight.

In this role you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in young people’s lives. On a day-to-day basis you will provide client-centred support and assist with day to day living skills, connections with the community, personal and social development, employment education and training. You will also complete daily client file notes as needed and assist with administration duties to help operations run smoothly.

ABOUT YOU

  • You have completed or are in your final year of a Bachelor Degree qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Family Therapy, Psychology or other health/welfare related area.
  • You have relevant and demonstrated experience in strengths base, trauma informed practice and are looking forward to starting a role where you can have a real impact.
  • You have developed communication skills including relationship building, problem solving, report writing and you pride yourself on your ability to motivate and advocate for clients to achieve outcomes. 
  • You would describe yourself as a team player and enjoy interacting with a wide range of people.
  • You are competent using the full suite of Microsoft applications and don’t mind helping out with administrative tasks as needed.

You will be able to work 28.5 hours per fortnight; the shifts include Saturday and Sunday weekend work plus one Friday a fortnight and a sleepover; all with attractive penalties.
