Alkira Disability Services has been delivering support to people with intellectual disability for over 70 years in the Eastern region of Melbourne.    ​

Alkira’s service philosophy is based on recognising, fostering and celebrating each person’s individuality, which in turn informs the way supports are provided to facilitate their participation in community life, along with associated rights and responsibilities. ​

​Alkira is a registered NDIS provider, delivering direct (1:1 and group) support, residential services, educational support, employment support and social enterprises among other services.​​

​What You Will Bring: ​

We have an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced Café Manager to lead our brand-new, purpose-built café, where we will provide purposeful training and development for existing Alkira participants with disability. Our ideal candidate will have strong café or restaurant management and barista experience, as well as a passion for changing the way people with disability are perceived in the workplace. ​

​As the Café Manager, you will be responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting a small core team to work with Alkira participants of varied abilities. You will create a positive, welcoming and supportive workplace, while delivering exceptional customer experiences.  You will maintain high service standards, oversee the daily operations, and work to ensure the financial success and ongoing viability of the cafe. In addition, you will play a crucial role in promoting the cafe online and creating engaging content for social media. ​

We will need you to have:

  • ​A current First Aid level 2 and CPR Certificate
  • ​An NDIS Worker Screening Check (or ability to get one) 
  • ​A Working with Children Check 
  • ​An International Police check (if necessary)
  • ​Evidence of your right to work in Australia ​
