The Djurali Centre focuses on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, looking at all aspects of health, including social and cultural determinants, health promotion and outcomes. The Djurali Centre turns research into tangible and sustainable change in community, in healthcare, and in public policy.

The Djurali Centre is hosted by THE HEART RESEARCH INSTITUTE (HRI), located in Newtown, Sydney, which is a centre of excellence in cardiovascular medical research. Our research aims to understand the origins and mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis and heart failure, and the contributions of diabetes and thrombosis.

The Djurali Centre at HRI is looking for an experienced Project Manager with a passion for contributing to improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes via research.

The successful applicant will be part of the Djurali team, managing the UNITE Project and providing ad hoc research and operational support to the team. They will develop and maintain relationships with key project personnel and carry out project support activities including communications, database establishment and maintenance, supporting and identifying people to deliver masterclasses, and organisation of masterclasses. The position is an identified Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander role.

You will have:

• Project Management qualification or similar
• Three or more years working in a similar environment or with stakeholders.
• Experience in the use of relevant computer packages including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Passion for contributing to improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes via research.
• Flexibility and a demonstrated ability to work well and contribute to a team environment.
• Attention to detail and high-level organisational skills.
• Strong written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to follow through on projects and complete tasks within required timeframes.
• Interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research and education
• An understanding of, with the intention to contribute and identify with the vision and aims of Djurali Centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Research.
