The Djurali Centre at HRI is looking for early career researchers in the field of Indigenous health.

The successful applicant/s will be part of the Djurali team and be responsible for the delivery of research projects impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The Researcher will be involved in the conception, design, and implementation of diverse research projects in the areas of Indigenous health and translational research. The position is an identified Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander role.

The role of Researcher reports to Djurali Director of Research and has no direct reports. The Djurali Centre, HRI has an established relationship with the University of NSW and consequent conjoint titles.

Part time or full time will be considered; workplace location negotiable; two positions available.

Who You Are:

• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
• Postgraduate qualification OR undertaking research in Indigenous health, or a relevant, related field.
• Experience undertaking research in collaboration with Aboriginal people and communities.
• Demonstrated research experience and the ability to undertake independent research projects or willingness to learn.
• Strong skills in data management with excellent attention to detail
• Experience in designing and developing research protocols.
• Experience in conducting literature searches and summarising findings with experience contributing to presentations and academic papers.
• Successful record of scientific writing for peer-reviewed journals and/or writing of reports for nonexpert stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work with staff, students, and peers from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrated experience in managing competing priorities and diverse project requirements to ensure a high standard of work is delivered on time.
• Experience in analysing qualitative data will be highly regarded.
• Experience leading and/or working with a multidisciplinary team will be highly regarded.
• Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
