Western Australian Police and Community Youth Centres (WA PCYC) is an incredible organisation that changes the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people at risk in Western Australia.

We currently operate in 16 locations, with 10 regional and six metropolitan centres and numerous, Blue Light Youth Activities and Police Ranger Units across the state. Our organisation is unique through its partnership with the WA Police, and mission simple — to help all children and young people achieve their potential.

POSITION PROFILE:

The Out of School Care Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of out of school care to ensure implementation and compliance with the Australian Children’s Educational & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) standards, which encompasses the Law and Regulations of Education and Care Regulatory Unit (ECRU), in conjunction with Management.

DUTIES:

  • Effectively supervise staff, contractors and volunteers in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure an effective induction and orientation process for new educators, families, children, volunteers and workplace students.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the service in line with the NQF and as directed by Management.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of the service and the development and maintenance of the Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Educational leader at the service to lead the development and implementation of educational programs
  • Oversee the implementation of effective health and hygiene practices including meeting all regulations relating to food safety and preparation, medical management plans, risk management plans, policies and procedures.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of the service and the development and maintenance incorporated into all aspects of service operations.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education (Degree in Early Childhood Education) or other Tertiary qualification deemed appropriate under the service funding agreement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under direction but with a high degree of autonomy
  • Experience supervising within a childcare environment
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Current HLTAID004 first aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of childcare industry and legislative requirements
  • Ability to obtain a WWC card
  • Ability to obtain a current National Police Clearance
  • Adherence to WA PCYC policies and demonstration if behaviours in accordance with the Child Safe Standards.
