The Australian Human Rights Commission is based in the heart of Sydney CBD, with flexible hybrid and remote work options available. This full-time, fixed term position offers a competitive salary range of $90,199 up to $102,002 plus 15.4% superannuation.

About the Role

The Australian Human Rights Commission is leading the Speaking from Experience project, a transformative initiative inspired by the National Inquiry into Workplace Sexual Harassment and the Respect@Work Report. We’re on a mission to gather crucial insights from those who have faced workplace sexual harassment and use their experiences to make workplaces safer for everyone. Your role will be key in turning these insights into actionable, accessible resources.

Skills & Experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate Research into Action: Convert qualitative research into engaging resources that enhance understanding and prevention of workplace sexual harassment. Your materials will reach a wide range of audiences, from government and community organisations to individuals directly affected.
  • Adopt an Intersectional Approach: Develop resources with a keen awareness of how different communities access and respond to information. Your work will be grounded in behavioural research to ensure maximum impact.
  • Coordinate and Consult: Manage consultations and integrate stakeholder feedback to create practical, accessible, and impactful resources. You’ll work with community organisations, consultants, and people with lived experience.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with internal stakeholders to align with the Sex Discrimination Commissioner’s goals and priorities. Your role will involve coordinating, administering, and supporting various project activities.
  • Support and Organise: Provide essential logistical and organisational support for project activities, ensuring smooth operations and timely delivery of objectives.

What We’re Looking For

  • Expertise in Knowledge Translation: Proven experience in developing and delivering resources with a focus on health promotion or behaviour change communications in a social justice context.
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, coordinate resource development, and adapt to changing demands.
  • Relevant Qualifications: Degrees or comparable experience in knowledge translation, communications, or behaviour change science.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills: Excellent at building relationships, presenting ideas, and managing stakeholder interactions.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Diverse Communities: Knowledge of best practices for engaging with First Nations and culturally diverse communities, and an understanding of their human rights issues.
  • Gender Equality and Violence Prevention: Familiarity with gender equality issues and strategies for preventing gender-based violence.
