ABOUT THE ROLE

Our new Leasing Consultant will facilitate all applications and leases for 8 properties in the same complex under Strathfield City Council’s Affordable Housing (AH) program. This program gives eligible households of very low to moderate incomes access to affordable rental housing that is appropriate to their needs. This exciting & varied opportunity involves developing ICLA’s program materials, processes and reporting while coordinating the leasing process from application through the tenancy lifecycle. Grow your skills in the affordable housing sector while providing a consistent point of contact for potential applicants & tenants.

This part time role is for 4 months, starting in mid-November, working 3 weekdays per week, with mutual flexibility around the demands of inspections & open homes. Based from our Surry Hills office with company car access for work travel, this opportunity is remunerated at $50,766 base p.a. (pro-rated on 3 days, equivalent to $84,000 full time), plus super and NFP salary packaging

Responsibilities:

  • Advertising Affordable Housing property vacancies, & promoting the program to prospective tenants, including developing promotional materials
  • Receiving, assessing and processing new applications, and allocating dwellings in accordance with the tenancy policy, ensuring equity of access
  • Supporting prospective tenants to gather the evidence they need to meet the Affordable Housing eligibility criteria, determining the approved household of the prospective tenant and the accommodation type for which they are eligible;
  • Establishing a list of applicants who meet eligibility requirements and whose needs and capacity match the vacancy available, and maintaining a waiting list register;
  • Setting & adjusting rents, undertaking rent reviews, collecting and lodging bonds, collecting rent and managing arrears as defined by the tenancy policy;
  • Executing leases in accordance with the tenancy policy
  • Coordinating maintenance & works, including approvals and ensuring works meet required standards
  • Providing fair, transparent and responsive management of tenancies, including complaints management
  • Coordinating bill payments and arranging landlord insurance as required;
  • Developing monthly financial reports including payment and reconciliation of rental payments

ABOUT YOU

Essential Criteria

  • Prior real estate leasing experience & knowledge, including experience executing lease agreements & completing reference checks
  • Current NSW Certificate of Registration or Real Estate License.
  • Proven communicator, skilled in dealing with people from different backgrounds with proficient written and verbal English language skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, able to prioritise and manage competing priorities
  • Proven stakeholder management skills
  • Flexible & adaptable in responding to the changing needs of tenants, applicants, and other key stakeholders
  • Functional IT skills, including MS Office suite (i.e. Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Current NSW driver’s license
  • Unrestricted right to work in Australia
